Lock Haven Communication Major 'Scores' Internship with Williamsport Crosscutters

by Abigail Stoudt

Lock Haven, PA (09/16/2022) — Many students take advantage of internship opportunities during their time in college to gain professional knowledge and experience - giving their resume a boost and enhancing their overall college experience.

Caprice Bischof, a Lock Haven native and organizational and presentational communication major at Commonwealth University's Lock Haven campus, recently completed an internship with the Williamsport Crosscutters of the Major League Baseball draft league as a food and beverage intern.

When searching for an internship, the position with the Crosscutters stuck out to Bischof and she immediately applied for it. "When the day of the interview arrived, I knew this position was meant for me. I was so pleased when I heard back from the Crosscutters and was presented with what I had been hoping for," Bischof said. "Thankfully I was offered the job and I learned so much during my time there."

Bischof had many responsibilities in her role with the Cutters, namely setting up the concession stands before every game. She was responsible for maintaining seven different areas, stocking them with food and supplies, and cleaning them each morning. During the games, she worked in one of those stands, either running it, serving guests, or helping out where needed.

"What I enjoyed most about this internship was the people that I met," Bischof said. "Everyone who came to the games and who I worked with made the experience very enjoyable. I laughed and made so many memories that I will cherish for a long time. I am thankful for everyone I met and the support they gave me throughout the season."

After working with the Crosscutters, Bischof is ready for what her professional life has in store for her following graduation this fall. "This experience has helped me prepare and feel confident to enter into the next stage of my life," she said.

Bischof would like to help dance companies and competitions manage backstage responsibilities at their shows. "Dance has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old, and I couldn't imagine my life without it," she said.

"I've made so many connections within the Lock Haven community, and now beyond," Bischof said. "I am so thankful for all Lock Haven has given me."
