The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven communication department recently held its annual awards ceremony, celebrating distinguished student and alumni achievements in the communication program. Formerly known as the Rebecca Gross Awards, the Communication Department Awards ceremony was hosted by the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society on Friday, April 21 in the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center.

The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven athletic training program hosted its annual awards banquet, recognizing the 2023 graduating class and honoring student achievements. The banquet was held in the Durrwachter Alumni Center on Wednesday, May 10. Lock Haven athletic training alumna, Miranda Fisher '10, was this year's guest speaker. Fisher is the assistant director of sports medicine at Shippensburg University. There also were several scholarships awarded to incoming and current Masters of Science in Athletic Training (MS-AT) students at the banquet.

Commonwealth University-Lock Haven recognized its top honor graduates for each college for Spring 2023 during the University's commencement ceremony on Friday, May 12.

The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven School of Nursing recently held a pinning ceremony for all graduating Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) students at the Clearfield location. During the ceremony, the students pledged their oath to the profession of nursing and received their pins and honors students also received their cords. Speaker for the ceremony was Therese Sayers, retired Lock Haven faculty member, and Dr. Jennifer DellAntonio, nursing department chair, conducted the pinning ceremony. Student speaker was Rebekah Cutler, of Clearfield.

Six students from Lock Haven's sport management program attended the 19th Robert Morris University Sport Management Career Summit at the UPMC Events Center on Robert Morris University's (RMU) campus. Throughout the day, students connected with and gained insight from industry professionals from more than 40 professional sport organizations and businesses from across the U.S.

During the Fall 2020 semester, Lock Haven University students Nathan Buchanan, Madalyn Dydynski, and Tyler Holcomb, as part of the social media marketing course, worked on a social media project for Football Club Nordsjaelland (FCN) in Denmark.

Students from Lock Haven's Sport Management Club recently attended the Pittsburgh Pirates Careers in Sport Night held at PNC Park. During the event, the 11 students attended a panel, a resume workshop, and a networking session where they received advice on how to start careers within the industry.

Lock Haven University congratulates the Spring 2021 graduates on receiving their academic degrees. The 143rd spring commencement ceremonies were held in-person for graduate students on May 7 and undergraduate students on May 8. All Class of 2021 ceremonies were held at Charlotte Smith Field.

Lock Haven University congratulates the Fall 2020 graduates on receiving their academic degrees. On December 12, 2020, LHU held a virtual graduation ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments. The video was available for viewing on the LHU homepage as well as through a Facebook live video premiere, where the graduates and their friends and family members were online watching together. Kinley Gioglio recently received Lock Haven University's Faragalli Family Softball Scholarship. A Stroudsburg native, she is a junior business administration major with a concentration in management and a pitcher for the LHU softball team.

Lock Haven University recently awarded Tymir James, of Williamsport, the Shades of LHU Legacy Scholarship. James, a mid-level education major with a focus in mathematics, is in his third year at LHU.

LHU senior Karina Long is the 2021-22 recipient of Lock Haven University's Frederick Douglass Emerging Leader Scholarship. Long is an early childhood education senior at LHU.

The Criminal Justice Department at Lock Haven University and the Lock Haven Police Department plan to conduct a survey of police services in the City of Lock Haven this fall. Two students have been selected as interns for the fall 2021 semester.

On Aug. 5, Lock Haven University Sport Management student Ethan Walker worked the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio.

Three Lock Haven University Clearfield nursing students administered the first COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine to eligible Clearfield community members on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

A commissioning ceremony took place on May 8 for students receiving a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army after successfully completing all the requirements of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Program. Lieutenant Colonel John "Chris" Acosta administrated the commissioning oath.

The Bald Eagle Battalion Army ROTC recently participated in the 2021 Ranger Challenge competition at Fort Dix, New Jersey, March 26-28.
