LHU sophomore student-athlete receives 2 scholarships

Lock Haven, PA (03/08/2022) — Anthony Noto is the recipient of The Lock Haven University Foundation Scholarship and The Lock Haven University Transfer Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year.

A sophomore at LHU majoring in sport administration, Noto also competes as a redshirt freshman in the 125 pound weight class for the LHU's men's wrestling team. Originally from Lima, New York, he transferred to LHU by way of North Carolina State University last fall.

Drawn to The Haven because it offered him everything he was looking for both academically and athletically, Noto said he felt supported by coaches, staff and professors throughout the transfer process. After visiting campus, he landed on LHU as the perfect venue to pursue his goals as a student- athlete.

"I love the atmosphere at LHU and the coaches and professors really care about me and my future," Noto said. "As a transfer student, I knew what I didn't want, and I was very selective in my search. LHU has a small-school atmosphere that I became a valued part of right away."

The scholarships he received also played a key role in Noto's decision to attend LHU.

Not only does Noto express gratitude for the financial impact those scholarships have on his ability to work toward earning his degree, but the way in which his scholarships enable him to focus on school work and managing his time, he believes, also maximizes the success he has experienced both in the classroom and on the mat.

When he's not on campus or in the gym honing his wrestling skills, Noto loves to give back to his community. He often runs wrestling clinics in his hometown and takes pride in helping young wrestlers improve their skills - a mentality of reciprocal giving that has carried over to his sentiments regarding scholarships and private support of higher education.

"Receiving a scholarship is an honor," Noto said. "I look forward to giving back when I am older so that other students can have the same experience that I am having at Lock Haven University."

Pride and honor are something he also feels every time he wears crimson and white to compete as a Lock Haven University wrestler.

"Being a wrestler for Lock Haven University means so much to me. I am proud to be a Bald Eagle," he said. "Coach (Scott) Moore, Coach (Nate) Carr and Coach (Ronnie) Perry are all amazing coaches. I, too, would love to become a coach and work with athletes at the collegiate level or maybe even open my own training facility someday."
