Recent Lock Haven Graduate Named Account Manager for PSU Athletics
Lock Haven, PA (06/05/2023) — Recent Commonwealth University-Lock Haven graduate Hailey Farr, of Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, recently has been named account manager at Penn State University. Farr graduated in May with a master's in sport management after completing her bachelor's degree in 2022.
Farr will be responsible for generating revenue through renewals and new business for PSU Athletics events by selling season tickets, corporate ticket packages, partial plans, and group tickets for all ticketed events. She also will assist with ticket sales and services on game days for football and any other events as needed.
"I am super excited to join Penn State Athletics and have the opportunity to grow and develop within the industry while being a part of a deep historical and prestigious institution," Farr said.
"While at Lock Haven, I was very involved with the Sport Management Club, serving as president for two years as well as having the privilege to attend various trips to gain hands-on experience within the sport industry," she added.
The Sport Management Club and Sport Studies Department provides students with outside of the classroom experiential learning opportunities. Some events students have had the opportunity to work at include the National College Football Championship, the Super Bowl, NCAA Men's Final Four, Formula I, and others.
Farr credits a lot of her success at Lock Haven, and obtaining her new position with PSU, with being involved in campus clubs, activities and other offerings and opportunities available to students at The Haven. "Get involved early and often. Do not wait until your senior year," she said. "Take any opportunity that comes available to you because you never know what other door it may open. The sport industry is all about networking and building your resume with hands on experience."
The sport management program at Lock Haven offers both bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as an accelerated program for eligible students in the undergraduate program, allowing students to earn their master's degree in approximately four years and one additional semester. With a completely online delivery of the master's program, it allows for many of the students to finish their field experiences or obtain jobs while completing their degree.
"While being the graduate assistant for the department, I also worked part-time at Penn State as a ticket operation representative at ticketed events," Farr said. "Since the master's program is fully online, it allowed me to have flexibility in my schedule to seek other experiential opportunities."
"I never would have imagined as a freshman that in four years this is where I would be," she added. "I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunities, professors, and experiences I gained as student at Lock Haven. It's because of The Haven and the opportunities it provided me that I am able to start my sport career at Penn State."
