Six students from Lock Haven's sport management program attended the 19th Robert Morris University Sport Management Career Summit at the UPMC Events Center on Robert Morris University's (RMU) campus. Throughout the day, students connected with and gained insight from industry professionals from more than 40 professional sport organizations and businesses from across the U.S.

Students from Lock Haven's Sport Management Club recently attended the Pittsburgh Pirates Careers in Sport Night held at PNC Park. During the event, the 11 students attended a panel, a resume workshop, and a networking session where they received advice on how to start careers within the industry.

Recently, The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2021-22 recipients of the Academic Achievement Awards, and a total of 97 Lock Haven University student-athletes earned the honor.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its scholar-athlete list for the 2021-22 academic year and 169 Bald Eagles joined with 4,144 student-athletes from the league's 18 institutions who were named to the list for the 2021-22 academic year. In order to be eligible, the 2021-22 student-athletes must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 upon completion of the academic year. The 169 total Bald Eagles making the list is the second-highest total for Lock Haven, just marginally short of the 171 set in 2020-21.

The 61st annual Lock Haven University Natural Sciences Convocation was held on Nov. 12 in the Ulmer Hall Planetarium. The event is organized by the Natural Sciences Departments at LHU, which include Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics, to celebrate the academic achievements of students in the sciences.

Kinley Gioglio recently received Lock Haven University's Faragalli Family Softball Scholarship. A Stroudsburg native, she is a junior business administration major with a concentration in management and a pitcher for the LHU softball team.

Lock Haven University recently awarded Tymir James, of Williamsport, the Shades of LHU Legacy Scholarship. James, a mid-level education major with a focus in mathematics, is in his third year at LHU.

LHU senior Karina Long is the 2021-22 recipient of Lock Haven University's Frederick Douglass Emerging Leader Scholarship. Long is an early childhood education senior at LHU.

The Criminal Justice Department at Lock Haven University and the Lock Haven Police Department plan to conduct a survey of police services in the City of Lock Haven this fall. Two students have been selected as interns for the fall 2021 semester.

In August, Lock Haven University TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) peer mentor and junior social work major, Madison Leister, was awarded a $750 scholarship by the Pennsylvania Association of TRIO Programs (PA TRIO). Leister's application and many accomplishments, as well as her dedication to TRIO SSS and Upward Bound, attributed to her being chosen from the many applicants.

On Aug. 5, Lock Haven University Sport Management student Ethan Walker worked the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio.

In April, TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) peer mentor and senior Criminal Justice major Adriana Bumbarger was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Mid-Eastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MEAEOPP).

A commissioning ceremony took place on May 8 for students receiving a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army after successfully completing all the requirements of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Program. Lieutenant Colonel John "Chris" Acosta administrated the commissioning oath.

Lock Haven University congratulates the Spring 2021 graduates on receiving their academic degrees. The 143rd spring commencement ceremonies were held in-person for graduate students on May 7 and undergraduate students on May 8. All Class of 2021 ceremonies were held at Charlotte Smith Field.

ROTC cadet Kailynn G. Smith recently was awarded the John F. Curcio Scholarship at Lock Haven University. She is the first recipient of the Curcio Scholarship, created in November 2020 to provide financial assistance to an LHU student who is ex-military or current military.

Alexandro Dunkelberger, a freshman biology major at Lock Haven University and an ROTC cadet with the Bald Eagle Battalion, recently was awarded a University of Pittsburgh Project Go Russian Language Scholarship.

Three Lock Haven University Clearfield nursing students administered the first COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine to eligible Clearfield community members on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

During the Fall 2020 semester, Lock Haven University students Nathan Buchanan, Madalyn Dydynski, and Tyler Holcomb, as part of the social media marketing course, worked on a social media project for Football Club Nordsjaelland (FCN) in Denmark.
